Full project name: Resilience in Desertification and Drought for Mediterranean
Project acronym: REDEEM
Assignment: WEFE Nexus Analysis, Carbon Footprint Assessment including Scope 3, GHG Mitigation Planning and Data-Driven Capacity Building
Role: Key Expert — Team Leader, WEFE Nexus and Water Governance Expert, Montenegro
Programme: Interreg Euro-MED 2021–2027
Contracted by: E3 Consulting, Podgorica, Montenegro
Beneficiary institution: Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Montenegro (MAFWM)
Geographical coverage: Montenegro
REDEEM addresses water scarcity, drought and ecosystem degradation in Mediterranean rural areas through an integrated Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystems (WEFE) nexus approach. It connects evidence, governance and practical solutions to strengthen water resilience and support more sustainable resource use.
As Key Expert and Team Leader within E3 Consulting’s support to Montenegro’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management (MAFWM), I coordinate technical delivery, integrate specialist contributions and serve as the principal operational interface with the Ministry. My role combines WEFE nexus and water governance expertise with responsibility for methodology, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance and reporting.
The assignment supports the mapping of Montenegro’s territorial WEFE nexus, stakeholder surveys and the analysis of barriers to adopting water-efficient solutions. It also contributes to institutional learning, policy recommendations and coordination among organisations responsible for water, energy, agriculture and ecosystems.
Support to pilot demonstration and resilience planning includes technical and governance inputs linked to solar-powered drip irrigation, the assessment and transfer of pilot findings, and the development of a territorial water resilience plan through a Local Working Group. This work aims to connect practical solutions with institutional responsibilities, end-user needs and wider opportunities for replication.
The assignment also covers carbon footprint assessment, including relevant Scope 3 emissions, and greenhouse gas mitigation planning. Capacity-building resources, stakeholder workshops, policy-transfer activities and digital learning materials help translate analytical findings into practical knowledge and action.
Throughout the contract, I will oversee task dependencies, coordinate expert inputs and review the consistency and technical quality of deliverables. My contribution helps connect project requirements with evidence-based analysis, inclusive dialogue and practical implementation in Montenegro.
