Photographs from the MonteAqua closing event, held at the Institute of Marine Biology in Kotor, Montenegro, on 17 December 2020. Organised as a seminar and webinar, the event presented the project’s achievements and introduced Aquarium Boka to the public through a virtual tour.
The programme brought together institutional representatives, project partners and aquarium professionals to reflect on the development of a centre connecting marine research, education and biodiversity conservation. Contributions highlighted Norwegian support, Montenegro’s investment and cooperation with aquariums in the Adriatic and wider Mediterranean region.
As MonteAqua Project Manager, I presented the project’s results, connecting capacity-building workshops, scientific exchange and publications with the establishment of Montenegro’s first public aquarium. The gallery records a milestone in turning a conservation initiative into a lasting resource for science, learning and public engagement with the Adriatic Sea.
