Photographs from the MonteAqua workshops on CITES and the EU Zoos Directive, held at the Institute of Marine Biology in Kotor, Montenegro, on 9 October 2018.
The programme connected wildlife trade controls with the conservation and educational roles of zoos and aquariums. Sessions explored Montenegro’s experience with CITES implementation and customs procedures, followed by perspectives from Dubrovnik Aquarium and presentations on the concept and construction of Aquarium Boka.
As MonteAqua Project Manager, I presented the project’s goals and activities and the planned Center for Adriatic Biodiversity Conservation. The gallery documents presentations and discussions linking institutional responsibilities, scientific expertise and public engagement in biodiversity conservation.
